LEGO Santa visited the City of Newburgh last Thursday , a few days before Christmas , to hand out gifts to kids at the Center for Hope . “ It was a delightful surprise ,” said 16-year-old Center for Hope student Iesha Brown .
The kids were treated to games , puzzles , markers , coloring books and other gifts . Santa also gave out new socks , winter hats , and gloves . The plastic Santa was accompanied by Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus . “ You can ’ t get any better than this ,” Neuhaus said . “ The Center for Hope has great kids and great caregivers .”
Operated by NHS Human Services , the Center for Hope is an after-school program serving at-risk students in the Newburgh school district . The gifts were donated by WGBQ radio station and Warwick Valley Quilters , among other donors , and organized by the Orange County Executive ’ s Office and the county Department of Social Services
