Thompson was held without bail at
the Orange County Correctional Facility.
Allen and Olin were held on $50,000 bail
each. The men are expected to be scheduled for an upcoming court appearance.
“If they are indicted by the county grand
jury, that eliminates the need for them to
return to town court,” Clancy said.
Beard was remanded to the county jail
on $5,000 bail this week.
Town Police were assisted by the New
York State Police, the Orange County
Sheriff’s Office, City of Newburgh Police,
New Windsor Police, the Federal Bureau
of Investigation, the Orange County
District Attorney’s Office and other law
agencies.
The Sterling National Bank, located in the ShopRite parking lot on Route 300, was robbed
last Wednesday.

called in to notify police. One witness
reported seeing a blue getaway car fleeing
south on Rt. 300 and onto the Thruway.
“One of our cars headed north on the
Thruway and three headed southbound,”
Clancy said. “The suspects became aware,
at some point, that police were coming, so
the driver pulled over and the two guys
jumped out.”
Another 911 caller reported seeing the
two men running up an embankment on
the side of the Thruway, approximately
three miles south in the Town of New
Windsor.
Law enforcement swooped in to search
the area. “Within 20 minutes, they found
one guy and an hour later they got the
other,” Clancy said.
Thompson was familiar with the area,
Clancy said. “He was previously arrested
and convicted for robbing the Bank of
America on Route 300 in 2007,” said the
police chief. “Several other people were
charged in that robbery as well.”
