Dubaldi sentenced to state prison

Court on Aug . 29 .
Aber ’ s arrest triggered an internal review of city cash accounts , said Ciaravino Monday . “ What we have begun , in earnest , is a rapid evaluation of how all the cash is handled in our city , as well as the ways in which we can present a budget to our city council much earlier and ahead of schedule ,” the city manager said .

stole approximately $ 90,000 from Diana ’ s campaign account , approximately $ 28,000 from Larkin ’ s and approximately $ 3,000 from Rabbitt ’ s .
“ In late 2015 , irregularities noted in these campaign accounts were brought to the attention of Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler ,” Carnright stated . “ Mr . Hoovler , also a noted Orange County elected official , cited the appearance of a potential conflict of interest and the investigation was
turned over to the Ulster County District Attorney ’ s Office .”
Carnright stated that prior to sentencing , Dubaldi “ paid full restitution as well as reimbursement for the costs of the forensic accountings .” However , when sentencing Dubaldi to state prison , Dutchess County Court Judge Edward McLaughlin said “ both the amount of the thefts and the number of thefts over such a long period of time , warranted the state prison sentence ,” Carnright reported .
Dubaldi has worked as an assistant
safety and loss control specialist for Orange County since 1994 . According to county Human Resources Commissioner Steve Gross , Dubaldi is on unpaid leave from the job through Aug . 12 .
Dubaldi is also a defendant in a defamation lawsuit filed by former New Windsor councilwoman Bonnie Brennan in 2013 . The lawsuit relates to a 2012 political race in which Dubaldi , as town GOP committee chair , used a mug shot of Brennan in political ads and mailers .
