Agronomy Page 4 www.midcountycoop.com Increasing yields with MESZ fertilizer Doug Kraska Agronomy Sales (952) 466-3730 [email protected] Soil fertil- ity makes a big difference in crop yields. One product we’ve been using more and more at Mid-County Coop is MicroEss- entials SZ, or MESZ for short. MESZ fertilizer, which was developed by Mosaic more than a decade ago, is formulated with mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP), with 12 percent nitrogen, 40 percent phosphate, 10 percent sulfur and 1 percent zinc. Two types of sulfur are included – 5 percent sulfate sulfur for early-season growth, and 5 percent elemental sulfur for a steady nutrient supply throughout the growing season. One distinct advantage of MESZ is that the sulfur and zinc are blended with the granules. This means that as the product is spread onto your field, nutrients will be evenly dispersed for optimal growth. In Mosiac’s studies, crops treated with MESZ yielded 7.2 bushels more per acre than those with traditional fertilizer. To learn more about how to use MESZ on your fields this season, contact Mid- County Agronomy at (952) 466-3730. 100 percent replant coverage for treated soybeans Scott Nelson Agronomy Manager (952) 466-3733 [email protected] If Mid-County treats your soybeans we provide 100 percent replant cov- erage. Our treatments are done on-site, and contain both a fungicide and in- secticide. Not all soybean treatments are the same, and ours has proven to be highly effective at increasing yield. Our customers can generally see a 4 bushel per acre increase – some fields see a little less, while others experi- ence substantially more, depending on the year. Soybean treatments are becoming increasingly common. It’s estimated that about two-thirds of the seed planted in 2014 was treated, com- pared to just 8 percent in 1996. We can also innoculate your soy- beans. Contact Mid-County Agronomy to- day at (952) 466-3730 to learn more about treating your soybeans this spring.
