The Department of Transportation defines
hazardous material as anything that could
pose a risk to public safety or the environ-
ment when it’s being transported, regulated
under the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials
Regulations.
The material could be cancer-causing, irri-
tating, corrosive, combustible, explosive, flam-
mable, or an assortment of other properties.
