Dairy Princess finalists
At the 2019 Minnesota State Fair, two of the ten finalists for
the Princess Kay of the Milky Way statewide competition live in
Lester Prairie. Grace Jeurissen is the daughter of Rick and Mindy
Jeurissen. Elizabeth Krienke is the daughter of Kraig and Rachelle
Krienke. Elizabeth was chosen as a runner up, alongside Brittney
Tiede of Le Center. Amy Kyllo of Byron was crowned the 66th
Princess Kay of the Milky Way, becoming the official goodwill
ambassador for Minnesota’s dairy farmers.
Grace and Elizabeth were also two of the three finalists chosen
to receive scholarships. Rachel Paskewitz of Browerville, Todd
County, was the third scholarship winner. Along with the other
finalists, both young women sat for a sculptor, who carved their
images into blocks of butter at the State Fair.
Elizabeth Krienke of Lester Prairie was chosen as runner up in the selection
of the 66th Princess Kay.
To qualify for the annual competition, which is organized
by the Midwest Dairy Association, each candidate must first be
crowned a county dairy princess. Then, from among all Minnesota
county dairy princesses, only ten finalists are selected to enter the
Princess Kay competition.
Both Grace and Elizabeth were crowned as McLeod County
dairy princesses April 13, at the McLeod County Dairy Association’s
annual spring banquet and coronation. They were then selected
as Princess Kay finalists at the Dairy Promotion and Leadership
event May 17-19 in St. Cloud.
Grace Jeurissen of Lester Prairie was one of two candidates representing McLeod
County among 10 candidates from across the state who were selected as fi nalists
for the Princess Kay crown.
