Where does gasoline and diesel come
from? It starts from crude
oil that was formed
from tiny aquatic plants
and animals that lived
long ago. The remains
were covered with lay-
ers of sediment. And
after years of extreme
pressure and tempera-
tures, it becomes crude
oil. Then, the refineries
break down the hydro-
carbons in crude oil into
refined products. At right

barrel of crude oil. A 42-
U.S. gallon barrel of crude
oil yields slightly more than 44
gallons of petroleum.

reduce our dependence on oil and help the

environment at the same time. Currently,
there are about 40 soy diesel plants and
105 Ethanol plants in the US. There are
also 44 new Ethanol plants under construc-
tion. Naturally, this market will continue to
grow and Mid-County will be there at the
forefront of any new innovation in alterna-
tive energy.
I would like to welcome Rafael (Raf)
Lozada as our new Certified Energy Spe-
cialist. He replaces Aaron Huebner who is
now working for Country Hedging in Indi-
anapolis, Indiana. Rafael will be assisting
customers with their propane, lubricant,
petroleum, and petroleum equipment
needs.
