Lakes Area Players  A Christian Theatrical Troupe    Are you fascinated by simpler times? Do you long for someone to remind you of the decades of bygone years? And you younger folks who have heard talk about the early days of the big band sounds and rock ‘n’ roll; learning new dance crazes such as the Twist and the Jitterbug….  Come with me and I'll open for you a window into the past..... we'll catch a glimpse of the music and memories of a time gone by from the era of the 1950’s. Before television was the new entertainment, we had RADIO! There was music, adventure programs such as ‘The Lone Ranger’; ‘I Love Lucy’; ‘The Adventures of Superman’ and then the variety programs like ‘The Arthur Godfrey Show”; “the Jack Benny Show” and the list goes on.  The Lakes Area Players and Quaker Haven Camp would like to take you back in time to those glorious days this December with their newest production of “CHRISTMAS ON THE AIR” when radio programs were presented “live” before a studio audience with music by an adult choir, children’s choir, actors portraying ‘unusual’ characters, sound effects all with You as the studio audience! Best of all, the show will include a classic Christmas dinner by the Quaker Haven Culinary Staff. Performances will be held in the Quaker Haven Dining Hall located at 111 EMS D16 Lane, Syracuse, IN where you, the audience will be part of the live action in our Radio station. Performances will be November 30; December 1, 7 & 8 at 7 PM with a matinee on December 2 nd at 2 PM. Reservations can be made by calling Quaker Haven Camp at 574-834-4193. Tickets are $20 for adults and $13 for children ages 5 – 12 years old. Get ready to inhale the sweet incense of nostalgia.... you'll chuckle (maybe even belly laugh a time or two), reminisce, and perhaps even shed a few tears. But I firmly believe you'll feel refreshed by the power of hearing this true story of Christmas and a simple stroll down memory lane. I want to rush for 1000 or 1500 yards, whichever comes first. ~ George Rogers, New Orleans Saint running back HO You will have an upfront view of the presenting of this wonderful program featuring a Stage Manager [who is the boss type of the show]; the Radio Announcer; the musical sounds of Christmas by an adult and children’s choir; Sound Effects by a talented sound man who may need helpers from the audience from time to time; and some wonderful actors who will portray some “unusual” characters that will delight you in the telling of Jesus birth from the Bible in a unique way.
