Welcome
The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is excited to continue our support of the
2016 Miami Broward Carnival!
The Miami Broward Carnival (MBC) is highly regarded as one of the most anticipated Caribbean
focused festivals which actually takes place outside of the Caribbean. While Miami is not geographically
in that quadrant we have strong ties and connectivity to the history, heritage and culture of the Caribbean
which recognizes annual carnivals as a way of celebration, religious conversion and freedom. The MBC
will showcase live music, costumes, island cuisine, vendors, dance and dance competitions and more!
The theme for GMCVB’s Multicultural Department is Engage, Embrace and Rediscover Miami’s
Multicultural Jewels and I hope that both residents and visitors enjoy and discover the internationally
diverse experience and Caribbean treasures with a Miami twist, during this year’s Miami Broward
Carnival.
Yours Truly,
Connie W. Kinnard

Miami Broward One Host Committee
Dear Carnival Revelers, visitors and patrons:
We are pleased to welcome you to our 32nd annual festival of Caribbean Carnival culture. Produced by the Miami Broward
One Carnival Host Committee (MBOHC), this annual cultural tourism event in South Florida is a multicultural international
extravaganza. As one of Miami New Times’ Top 100 Events in South Florida, thousands of locals and visitors highly anticipate Miami Broward Carnival every Columbus Day weekend.
We are proud to partner with Legacy magazine to provide a sneak peek into our vibrant multicultural tourism economy. As
we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the island of Barbados, we will feature the history, music, pride and industry of the
people of Barbados. We hope that you will plan to attend and enjoy the glitter of the Kings, Queens and Individuals
costume competition, the harmony of the Steelband Panorama competition, the early rise revelry of J'ouvert, and the
pageantry of the Parade of the Bands on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds.
Please be safe and take advantage of the many park and ride travel options to the Carnival. For more information on these
tips and tickets to all the revelry, visit us at miamibrowardcarnival.com.
Yours in Mas,
Joan Hinkson
