For example, who has not heard of earrings of elephant fang (ivory)?
Well, this ivory is achieved after the death of hundreds and thousands of elephants. An elephant fang can range from $25,000 to $30,000 but people who do this, have ever wondered if the life of an elephant is worth less than that?
Or the life of a rhino, which are also sacrificed to obtain their horns that can reach a value of 60,000 dollars a kilo, for the fact that is believed to have miraculous powers (false rumors), or can be used in medicine and for the hangover? Seriously? Ican't believe that the people think this yet.
Althougt the most terrible thing, is that, in the times in which we live, in which improvements are made for hunting with hig technology, such as telescopic sights, or night vision goggles, and the drug trafficking is castigated by putting people in prison (5 grams of drugs equals 4 years on jail), and the animals trafficking is a simply fine os $14,000, which can be paid by people who are dedicated to this, as they earn millions of dollars a year.
And that there are still places where this prectice isn't banned as in Thailand, with animal trafficking being the fourth organized international crime.
Why not these people put themselves in the place of these animals?
Is the life of an animal worth less than ours?
In conclusion, I think we should raise awareness on this issue so that be prohibited, because, I don't believe that an elephant fang, or put on our the sking of an animal will make us be the best, nor do I think it is indispensable in our lives.
