Zeus is the most important deity of the entire Greek pantheon. He was known as the father of the gods, sovereign of mortals and immortals. Zeus is the sovereign god, the one before whom all creatures, human and divine, submit. His sphere of influence is the sky in all its manifestations: light, clouds, storms and thunder. Carrying his scepter and sitting on his throne, Zeus governs the destinies of the universe, sometimes benevolent, sometimes implacable. However, human weaknesses also often preyed on this almighty god, as demonstrated by his frequent infidelities of love.
