ABSTRACT.
The first third of the 20th century is the age of silver of Science, and of the
Spanish culture. The Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Valladolid
had its headquarters in the historic building of the University between 1940 and
1970. The new headquarters in the Palace of the Vivero Street Chancery No. 2 in
Valladolid was opened in 1986. The magazine Annals of the Academy of medicine
and surgery of Valladolid began publishing in 1963, and is still published today.
Discusses the life and work of those number academics, who occupied positions
in the Corporation, and some academics of number, and relevant academic
elected. Dr. Don Vicente Gonzalez Calvo has been the best President that has had
the Corporation throughout its history, elaborate the applicable statutes of 1981,
he founded the Annals of the Corporation and got the definitive headquarters of
the Corporation in the Palace of the Vivero.

INTRODUCCIÓN
1. El primer tercio del siglo XX como Edad de Plata de la Cultura y de la
Ciencia Española.
La España de la Restauración (1874-1931) y la Segunda República (1931-
1936) se caracterizó por tener una excelente literatura, que se ha considerado
como la edad de plata de la literatura española, quizás sólo haya sido superado
por el siglo de oro del siglo XVI-XVII. Durante ese periodo histórico hubo varios
movimientos literarios.
El primero de todos el realismo, que contó con escritores de la talla como
Cecilia Bohl de Faber, que fue más conocida por su pseudónimo literario Fernán
Caballero (1796- 1877) (si bien algunos críticos pensaron, que podría pertenecer
al romanticismo), también hay que añadir figuras literarias de la talla de Pedro
Antonio de Alarcón (1833-1891), o José María Pereda Porrúa (1833-1906), que
se caracterizó por la descripción de los ambientes cántabros que fue amigo del
prestigioso ensayista, y pensador Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo (1856-1912), y
a pesar de las diferencias ideológicas, también fue amigo del escritor y repre-
