The second half saw Irish Pub slow the Marauder attack on goal after a little shuffling of the line-out to beef up the defensive. Ninja captain Tim Dombroski and his similar-in-stature accomplice Scottie Ward were hunting along the midfield in a rare challenge that seemed to throw Ale House a little as well. With some confidence back, the Ninjas were able to take the attack a little deeper on the Marauder defense. Pat Minster was out of net for this match and playing all the way downfield to bolster his offense, which helped them grab two quick strikes on goal.
The Ale House lead was hefty, but Pub continued to dig deep with a strong showing from Ryan Schubert and Brian Marsolek, who never stopped moving at midfield as he chased down Marauders. We’ve seen Irish Pub climb back into games this year after finding themselves down at half, but it’s hard to do week after week and Ale House was unrelenting. Trish Borzon and Trent Kielley never let up their assault on the Ninja goal and Joe Jawson showed quiet resolve in stopping the Pub charge all day. The Marauders showing what a force they could have been if their season had started out on the right foot with a commanding win and a final score of 6-19 (37) to Irish Pub’s 4-4 (16).
