MHC Dish From the Pitch 2014 Week 7 | Page 23

Ale House was putting on a passing clinic as they continued their drive to level things up. Chojnacki moved it up to Rhino, who gracefully sent it over to Hanrahan for a point. A short time later it was Hanrahan with the assist to Jakubowski for another Marauder point. The volley between the teams was reaching a fever pitch as play after play was intercepted by the opposing squad and sent back downfield. The Marauders held tight throughout the quarter though and held the strong blustery Gael Wind to a single point. Jakubowski ended the quarter by slipping a coveted goal by the tough Gael Wind keeper to bring Ale House within three points of their rival.

The McBob’s full forwards must have read the last issue of the Dish on position play, because they were swatting sliotars back into play all afternoon. The second chance opportunities paid off at just the right time as Mia Michael dished a quick pass to Kyle Christenson who slapped it in for three. Both squads were able to net another goal after long scrums in each box eventually got the ball over the line. However, Ale House was taking better advantage of their puck-outs, and Kevin Hobbins was doing an excellent job of relaying the ball from midfield. The increased movement gave way to a couple more up top for the Marauders.

The match was still neck-and-neck and Ale House was pouring everything at Chico who was batting everything down near his Gael Wind goal. In her relentless pursuit of the second chance though, Mia Michael again stepped in for her McBob’s squad to grab a loose sliotar and put it past the keeper for her first ever goal in the MHC. Time expired soon after and McBob’s narrowly captured their second victory in what appears to be a late season charge 8-4 (28) to Ale House’s valiant 3-14 (23).
