MHC Dish From the Pitch 2014 Week 7 | Page 13

It was a drowsy morning and the kids were stumbling onto the field. The game started off really slowly, seeing there were only five players to each side. Adult players, AJ Varelas and Tony Sholts stepped in to play keepers for the 15s on this fine hurling Sunday. By the end of the first quarter, the kids were starting to show signs of fatigue, but a few fresh players showed up to speed up the pace of the game. The passing was amazing to see as the kids are really beginning to understand their positions. The players are all much more aware than they were at the beginning of the season. Mystic Ireland was pounding in some impressive goals as the offense pounded the Schley defensive line. It was answered by an equal amount of attempts from Schley. It was great to see Graham McCommons step up and have an amazing game despite the dwindling numbers this week.
