The Comfort Keepers were working their way downfield in the second half, determined to get back into the net. In one of the best sideline shots these teams have seen, Gabe “Angel” Meller casually lofted a sideline cut over the heads of everyone, making even the adult bystanders gasp at the perfection! Some strong passing ensued, and soon the sliotar was back in Angel's capable hand to nab the first goal score of the second half. Not to be outdone, Pickles and the Terrors began their own onslaught on the Ravens’ goal, but Bobblehead was swatting everything away to keep his Comfort Keepers in the lead. In the race to get the ball back, a clash of the ash sent Jacob “Happy Feet” Schmidt’s new stick splintering (stick two of the season, has this kid been watching Dan McCauliffe too closely?). Undeterred, Pickles found himself with the sliotar again and this time sent it into the back of the net to tie up the game. He followed with a beautiful weak-side shot on the run that sailed over the cross bar and allowed Swick Tech to take a one point lead going into the final quarter.
The Comfort Keepers were bound and determined to take home their first win, and they came out swinging. Raven Brodie “Frogger” Conklyn worked his magic with a nice steal and solo downfield, ending with an expertly placed hand pass to Pop-Up, who wound up and buried it in a corner of the goal. The heat was on! Frogger again picked up the pace and began soloing and passing to Rowan, and they kept the pressure on against the Terrors, who were trying hard to reclaim their lost ground. As a final nail in the coffin, Bobblehead took one final solo up near the box and sent the sliotar sailing through the posts to clinch the win. Shortly thereafter the whistle blew and this misty game was over. Comfort Keepers had their first win of 4-4 (16) over Swick Tech’s 4-1 (13).
