Burke’s showed no mercy in the third quarter. They couldn’t let a great team like McBob’s gain any headway, because five point leads can disappear quickly in hurling. The Knights went for the jugular and despite the valiant efforts of the McBob’s defense found the net two more times; one of those a skillful double by Knight Rookie Casey Shaak - her first goal of the season. Gael Wind captain Kyle Christianson managed to contain Connor Kilp, but the Burke threats were many and they oppressed the struggling Gael Winds until the very last. The third quarter ended with the Knights comfortably in the lead 4-12 (24) to 0-9 (9).
McBob’s never gave in. They managed a rally in the fourth quarter with a goal and a couple points, but it was not enough for the deft and apt Knights, who never let their guard down. Knight Ray Akert in particular did a superb job on the fullback line fluidly transitioning between threats, working as the glue holding the defense together. As the end of week 4 drew to a close and the threats of stormy weather seized, the Burke’s Irish Castle Knights secured their victory over the Gael Winds, 5-12 (27) over 1-11 (14).
