occasions. The Irish Pub squad was doing a great job of maintaining control, but struggled to convert their possessions into points as 65s and free shots just didn’t find their mark. The Shamrock Club eventually got their teamwork going again though, and the result was a third quarter gut-punch of a goal, followed by a Griffin point to end the third quarter.
As the match continued into the final quarter the Pub squad was showing that they still had the skills in their passing play to set up the shots that could get them back into the mix. Ninjas Captain Chris Servais and Brian Marsolek were making good connections and at times Anna Krajcik, John Gilmore, and Freyer made it look as if they’d been playing together for an entire season. Shamrock Club was feeling the heat, but soon they were back to the game plan that had been working so well earlier and the shots began to fall once more. The final whistle blew with Shamrock Club taking the opening game win 2-17 (23) to the Irish Pub Ninja’s 0-7 (7). Nobody likes a loss, but I’m sure the Irish Pub Ninjas walked away pleased to see their rookies playing well with a great foundation to build on for the rest of the season.
