MG Car Club of South Australia MGA/MAGNETTE NEWS From..Sandra Cardnell Corvette and a Pontiac Firebird. So there is another opportunity if any- one would like some American wheels. MGA/MAGNETTEREGISTER MEETING THURSDAY 19 JULY 2018 AT IAN AND MARIE BAUM’S BUSINESS PREMISES AT ALBERTON I s it me, or do the winters seem longer, colder and darker than in my youth? That may be the answer or it could be that our meeting was held on the coldest day of the year in Adelaide so far this winter, followed in the evening with rain and some hail. Needless to say that apart from the hosts I did not expect to see any MGA’s or Magnettes. Well, that is apart from the redoubtable Dean Hosking who drove his MGA to the meet- ing, the only concession to the weather being that he had the hood on. If I had a medal for attendance under duress in a Register vehicle, Dean would deserve it. Alas, no medal, but the thought was there Dean. Lachlan Kinnear (T owner) came with his friend Steve Matulich. Steve is in the market for an MGA and, as luck would have it, Ian and Marie have their white MGA (formerly owned by Mick Mitolo) for sale. As Ian says – you can only drive one car at a time, so he is selling the A and both of his American cars, a 26 I brought the meet- ing up to date on my efforts with the Gallery photos as well as the hard c over Reg is ter Books. So many cars have no further information once the member resigns or changes clubs. Our new Secretary of Registers is looking for this information to be kept up to date. Steve Matulich offered to help with a programme to store information in “the cloud”. As the Club is presently investigating a new computer, I will pass this information on to our Secretary, Web Master and all around technical guru, Peter Coulson. The Poker Run, organized by Nick and Dennise Micklem is set for Sunday 23 September 2018. We will meet from 9.30 am at Valhalla, 1 Lofty’s Lane, Houghton where we will pay the hosts $5 per car and we will received our first playing card. A drive and four stops later we should have a poker hand and we will then return to Valhalla for a BBQ lunch and a winner will be declared. Dennise requests that we not be caught cheating. I read that as – its OK to cheat, but don’t get caught. In advance, your grateful Register Secretary would like to thank Nick and Dennise for orga- nizing this event.
