October 2018 Motorsport Mutterings Oct. 2018 From..Murray Stephenson Wednesday 17 October – Ferrari Club Australia National Meeting, The Bend The response to our call for officials for the FCA Nat Meet sprint at The Bend has been great. Thank you. I believe we have provided enough for the event but if you are still keen and haven’t volun- teered yet please contact Ian Crouch, [email protected], to see if there is room. Even if you are not helping I am sure you could wander out to have a look and a listen. Upcoming Events for MG Motorsport C AMS calendar activity continues and it is anticipated that the MGCC motorsport calendar for 2019 will again include the MSCA Super Sprints, Sport- ing Car Club Multi Club Hillclimbs and five rounds of the State Motorkhana Championship. Added to that will be the National Meeting and Challenge. MGCCSA will again run the first round of the motorkhana series early in the year and contribute flaggies to two su- per sprints at Mallala. Note that you do not have to limit yourself to the two nominated MGCC flagging days. If you would like to do more you are welcome at every sprint and, should MSCA run an event at The Bend, there will be a call for as many flaggies as we can find. Last month I wrongly reported the date for the final MSCA Super Sprint. It is on 28 October as reported below. Sunday 28 October – MSCA Super Sprint Round 5, Mallala This is the final round of the MSCA Su- per Sprint Series so your last chance to score points towards the end of year tro- phies. Competitor entries are taken via the CAMS event entry system accessed through the CAMS member portal. Don’t forget to include your Dorian number on the car description in meecams and nominate your previous best lap time to enable grids to be set up. For those who don’t have a Dorian re- member the Club has four which can be hired for $20 a day. Friday 12 October to Sunday 14 Oc- tober – SA Hillclimb Championship, Collingrove This is a good event to compete or spectate. Practice is on Friday and competition starts with the first run on Saturday morning. The event brings out the best of SA hillclimbers as well as a number of interstate competitors. The competition can be fierce and you can see some cars which are not generally seen in SA. Come and have a look and say g’day to the MGCC members com- peting. As it is an open event you need a CAMS Log Book unless you run in the road registered class but have a look at Supp Regs to confirm you are eligible. Entries via CAMS event entry system. November 28 – 30 – Adelaide Rally The MG Car Club is again helping out with the Adelaide Rally again in 2018 running competition stages at The Bend. There will be a number of stages at The Bend which MGCC will be controlling so we need help from experienced and nov- ice officials. This will be the first day of competition and there will be some great cars to watch. Register at http://aglrallysa.com.au/ register-adelaide-rally-official/ and they will keep you informed as the event 37
