MID WEEK LUNCH RUN NEWS From.. Roger Polkinghorne
Thursday 14 June 2018
t was a somewhat depleted group of hardy folk that set out for the Bridgewater Inn for our June lunch. Sadly the weather gods have no respect for our need to give the cars a run and once again most were kept garaged and dry. The wet and windy weather forecast did not sound particularly great for the run from Kent Town into the hills to Bridgewater. Only one MG arrived for morning tea, however Graham Loader did confess that the car had not been washed since its previous outing. Di temporarily handed her clipboard over to me whilst David is experiencing a touch of ill health. We wish him a speedy recovery and return to our lunch ranks soon. The rain did hold off, but the wind was quite blustery so it was decided to road test the plastics with a freeway run directly to Bridgewater. We were enthusiastically welcomed by the Bridgewater Inn publican( Scottie) and his staff. The food and drink service that ensued was excellent. The fire was blazing in the dining room

so with a comprehensive food menu and accompanying beverage list we soon forgot about the weather outside and set about problem solving for the next three hours. Laurence Foody had a big birthday during the week and got the Porsche out as part of the celebration. Not as classic as the MG TD but a lifetime of driving experiences had Laurie hitting the road for the day in the 911 MG substitute. Next mid week lunch run will be on 12 July 2018 at the Rex Hotel, Marleston meeting at the Crafers Hotel, Crafers at 10.30am and departing 11.30am. Everyone is welcome. Please book if you would like to come so the venues can be advised numbers attending. D i a n e & D a v i d H o l m e s – djdrholmes @ gmail. com or 8336 4557.
