MG Car Club of South Australia
MGA- MAGNETTE NEWS From.. Sandra Cardnell
REGISTER MEETING 17 MAY 2018
rthur Ruediger welcomed 17 members to the meeting at his home at
A
West Lakes. We had an assortment of plastic vehicles but 6 MGA’ s, One MGB and one MG KN were parked in his driveway. One of the members present was Ken Burke, our new Secretary of Registers.
We had apologies from Stuart Attenborough, Jas and Geoff Goode, Roger and Caroline Boylen, Dee Denny and Karen Stephenson.
It was a cool night, so we congregated in Arthur’ s warm and cosy living room until the majority of the meeting( i. e. the blokes) ventured to the garage and driveway to look at Bob Bazzica’ s KN and hear a little of its history. Sandy Dicker, Velli Algate, Denise Micklem and myself stayed inside to catch up on the serious side of business, holidays, grandchildren, weddings etc. We did however make it out to the garage for the meeting – well I needed to be there for that and we caught the last of Bob’ s talk about Arthur’ s ND.
Dick Manning sent some MGA spotlights down for all to check out – they will be at the swap meet at the clubrooms on June 15 th along with a wiring loom for a TD. Dick was not able to attend, so I spruiked his swap meet.
The Poker Run proposed by Nick and Denise Micklem will be held on 23 September, 2018. More details later.
We discussed the necessity of keeping the gallery of MGA’ s and Magnettes current and I plan to send an email to everyone on my list to update details,
16
both of the cars and personal details. Although there is space for updating on the membership invoice, many members do not alter details there, so I may have to make a few phone calls – I hope not too many.
I advised the meeting of the new arrangements for the All MG Day, to be held at the Torrens Parade Ground on 9 th September, instead of Civic Park. The Tea Tree Gully Council advised that the event could be cancelled if the grass could be damaged because of excess rain. Only recently a display of historic vehicles had to be moved to the TTG Swimming Centre because the Civic Park ground was too wet. If you are interested, vehicles can enter from 9 am and we request that they stay on display from 10 am to 3 pm.
Murray Stephenson requested volunteers for the MG Challenge at The Bend on 10 June 2018. He will need more than usual because of the size of the track.
Thank you to Arthur for a lovely evening and tasty supper. We had a smallish turnout, so Arthur had leftovers, at least for a day or two.
Next meeting on 19 July at Ian and Marie Baum’ s business premises, 40 Coburg Rd, Alberton. Arthur will be an apology for this meeting – poor man has to go to Italy and Europe for his daughter’ s wedding and a bit of sightseeing. We feel for you Arthur!
