Motorsport Mutterings February 2018 Happy New Year motorsport fans. The 2018 club motorsport year promises to be very busy and a lot of fun. I hope you have used the Christmas break well to have your cars ready. As well as the usual mix of motorkhanas, super sprints and hillclimbs which make up our championship we will also have a Nat Meet in Northern Tasmania and an MG Club Challenge in SA. Keep watching the calendar on the website but following are the first events of interest.
Sunday 18 February – Motorkhana Series Round 1 The first motorkhana of the SA Series will be run by the MG Car Club of SA on the skidpan at Mallala. This event is generally the best supported for the year and is an opportunity for those going to the Nat Meet at Easter to have a practice on the Nat Meet courses. MGCC is running the event so, in addition to competitors, we will need members to come out to help with timing, marshalling, set up and pack up. Officials will be fed and watered on the day and it is a lot of fun. If you haven’ t tried it before there is a non-competitive Come and Try segment to the event which means anybody, club member or not, can buy a day licence and do the courses to see why it is so much fun. Bring out friends and family members for the day. Supp Regs and entry form are on the website and, although not mandatory, it would be appreciated if you could enter before the day. Please contact Murray or Peter to volunteer your services for the day.

Motorkhanas in Adelaide were poorly attended in 2017 for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the lack of a suitable and economical track, and if they are to continue we need to get out and support them.
Friday 23 February – 2017 Motorsport Presentations Awards for the 2017 MG motorsport championship will be awarded at a presentation night at the clubrooms on 23 February. Rodney Gibb will have his latest toy, an MG ZT Super Tourer, on display and will address the gathering on MG racing in the MGF. The ZT sounds like an amazing beast and should be very interesting to inspect and hear about. A BBQ tea is also being organized by Mick Mitolo at a cost of $ 5 per head. Please come along to enjoy a great evening. Please let Dick Manning know if you are coming for dinner to facilitate catering.
Sunday 25 February – MSCA Picnic and Presentations The MSCA presentation picnic will be held at: Paxton Wines, Lot 100 Wheaton Rd, via Budgens Rd, McLaren Vale. C h e c k o u t t h e l o c a t i o n at www. paxtonwines. com The winery will have wines and beer available to purchase and have asked that we do not bring our own wine and beer please and we support the business as they are not charging us a fee.
