MG Car Club of South Australia
CONDITIONAL REGISTRATION
HISTORIC VEHICLE REGISTRATION – WARNING:- NON FINANCIAL MEMBERSHIP & OVERDUE ANNUAL LOG-BOOK UPDATES
Every year some members forget to pay their annual subscription and have their log-book updated before March 1. I hope this does not apply to you! A list of names of the non financial is always compiled by mid March each year and sent to the Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure, as part of our Club’ s responsibility for maintaining the Historic Vehicle Conditional Registration scheme. The members who take no action will receive a letter from the Department requesting that within 14 days they either pay their subscription to our Club or revert to full registration for their vehicle. If you are a non financial member:- To avoid all this trouble, come to the clubrooms to pay your subscription for 2017, bring a signed stat dec, the blue registration papers and your log-book on Saturday March 4 for endorsement for 2017 from 10 am to 12 noon. Please remember to bring the following for each vehicle covered by the HVCR scheme:-
· proof of your membership renewal,
· log-book for the vehicle,
· current blue registration papers with proof of payment and expiry date and a
· signed statutory declaration, indicating either no change or specifying any modifications made since the previous year’ s declaration( the form is available on the Club’ s website).
Please note, as you are now non financial, do not drive your vehicle at all and do not bring it for a reinspection. You will have to pay your subscription first. Re-inspection and the issuance of a new log-book will have to take place on the next scheduled inspection Saturday( March 11). Remember to bring the signed stat dec, blue registration papers and your old log-book.
For you information, I have included below, the motion and supportive note, I took to the Club at the general meeting in January. This motion was carried by an overwhelming majority of those present and has served as the basis for the Club’ s official response to the Minister. I, Geoff Goode, propose the following motion. MOTION:“ That this club, MG Car Club of SA Inc., writes to the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure in response to his letter of 4 January 2017, indicating that this Club fully endorses all of the proposed principles of revisions, pertinent to the current Conditional Registration scheme for Historic Vehicles”. Further, in responding to the letter, I recommend the Club indicates that it is pleased that the proposed principle 3( in changes to the code), will allow each club to retain the ability to“ request vehicle inspections on an asneed basis. This will enable clubs to uphold their constitutional values”. This would be a valuable safeguard that can be exercised at the Club’ s discretion. Geoff Goode. Club Registrar for the Conditional Registration Scheme
