MSCA Super Sprint Round 3 2017 From.. Murray Stephenson

O Super Sprint was run at Mallala. The day started out cold, got colder and ultimately we were blessed with a sprinkle of rain.
A field of seventy one drivers lined up for the day with eight MGCC members among them. MGCC members entered five MGs, an MGBGT, an MGB V8, a ZR, a ZS180 and an MGF. The other cars were a Lancer EVO8, Lotus Exige and Hyundai Excel.
Early in the day some reasonable times were being set although the cold track and strong wind meant few PBs would be achieved. Rob Hall is steadily getting faster in the ZS and Nick Micklem was enjoying himself in the ZR. Tony’ s MGB GT looked and sounded great in his first sprint in a while. John and Jason were among the fastest as usual but no PBs in the conditions.
When the rain came during the second run Laurie put his car on the trailer as he only had slick tyres for the day and it was getting too exciting. Dick had fun in the MGF but a flat tyre and a spin messed up his run. Scott had the Excel going well and enjoyed the wet as usual harassing some quick cars. Most of our members had a spin or near spin but no damage.
MGCC also supplied flaggies for the day. Six of the eight flaggies were from MG with Michael Bugg, Craig Steele, Garry Bolt, Curley, Murray Stephenson and Sarah Stephenson freezing in the bunkers and Berry Treffers as the

starter. There were plenty of yellow flags to wave to keep warm and Sarah was dancing to keep warm at her flag point with Sonya Flynn. They didn’ t know until the end of the day that a nearby camera was giving race control great entertainment.
Thanks to the officials, drivers and supporters who came out for a great day. It was cold and damp but entertaining and great fun.
