MG Car Club of South Australia
MID WEEK LUNCH RUN NEWS
From .. Roger Polkinhorne
I
Thursday 13 July 2017
The run south was an opportunity for
MG legend Mike Greenwood and Jan to
join the group and catch up with some
familiar faces.
t’s winter and it showed. Cold, mainly
overcast and a chance of rain. That’s
what it takes for most MGs to stay in the
garage. In a total of twenty one cars only
four MGs hit the road with the rest being
heated plastics.
We haven’t had lunch at the Victoria
Hotel for a number of years. There was
plenty of choice on the menu with the
food given the thumbs particularly for
the price. The drinks selection was com-
prehensive so by 3.00pm we were all
well fed and watered and up to date with
the latest news.
Nevertheless coffee at the Arkaba was a
good start to the day. The run to the Vic-
toria Hotel only took about a half an hour
with the most challenging part being the
section between South Road and
Marion Road where significant road-
works tested us as it has every Adelaide
motorist heading south in recent times.
When this section of the North-South
corridor is complete I’m sure it will make
our aging classic cars feel like new
again.
The next mid week lunch run will be on
10 August 2017 to the Belair Country
Club meeting at the Arkaba at 10.30am
departing 11.30 am. If you intend to
come please advise Diane & David
