Motorsport Mutterings
he final rounds of the MGCCSA
championship for 2016 were run
in October so we have started planning the 2017 motorsport year.
The CAMS calendar is fairly well fixed
and we have the possibility of five super sprints, six motorkhanas and four
multi club hillclimbs. If you toss in the
Peter Hall Memorial Six Hour, state
championships for Hillclimb and motorkhana as well as the four winter
cup hillclimbs you could have a very
busy year. Oh, and don’t forget the
Australian Hillclimb championships at
Collingrove, the National Meeting and
an MG Challenge. That’s twenty
seven events!
Get those cars ready over Christmas
because it will be a fun year.
Most importantly though we have the
National Meeting at Easter, 14 to 18
April, which is an opportunity for our
club to show our fellow MG enthusiast
from around the country some great
SA hospitality and keen motorsport
competition.
Please get onto the website to look at
the events available and consider registration as a Social or Competition
participant. From the motorsport view
there will be a super sprint and a motorkhana which will be conducted in
the same format as our regular MSCA
and state series events but limited to
MGs only. The sight of full grids of
MGs at Mallala is great to see and a
lot of fun.

Our great supporters at MSCA and
the motorkhana panel will be assisting
with running these events but there
will be a need for more of our members to help. Whether you choose to
register for the Nat Meet or not your
help will be greatly appreciated in
whatever way you can assist so
please contact Peter Coulson to volunteer.
Our first two events for 2017 will be:
Motorkhana Round 1 – Sunday 19
February
MG runs this round so we will be
seeking helpers to set up, time and
pack up on the day. Peter and Murray
will be chasing helpers early in the
New Year for this event or you can
get in early and volunteer now.
Traditionally we run the Nat Meet
courses at this round as it provides an
opportunity to familiarise ourselves
with these courses prior to the Nat
Meet. It’s not practice, it’s familiarisation!
MSCA Super Sprint Round 1 – Sunday 12 March
The first super sprint is one round for
which MGCC provides flaggies so
your assistance will be sought with
this day as well.
Round 1 2017 will also see an innovation for SA super sprints, it will have a
Come & Try component. New sprinters will receive classroom and on
track tuition in techniques of car control and sprinting from one-on-one
tutors and will participate in a controlled group of similar C&T drivers. If
