MG Car Club of South Australia WEEKENDER 2016 From...Gary Davies G rey skies and cold air greeted the 70 members and 33 MGs who set off from home on the morning of Friday October 21. A few country members set out direct for Robe but the big majority assembled at Strathalbyn in the park overlooking the Angas River. Many elected to take part in the Observation Quiz and as we all set off for Wellington and the ferry across the Murray, the weather remained forbidding. But after a few short sharp showers on the leg down to Meningie the weather generally improved and the patches of blue sky became gradually bigger. Everyone got safely to Robe in time for Welcome Drinks and handing out of their Weekender Packs at The Adventurous Spoon restaurant at 4:30. The ‘Spoon’ later provided an evening meal and the universal view was that they did us proud. 16 The following morning was again cold but it was a bright day as we assembled on the Robe foreshore and headed off to Beachport, an easy drive of just under 50 kilometres on quiet roads. At Beachport, most of the group detoured round the James Bowman Scenic Drive for some spectacular views of the sea and most of the time, the sun shining on the crash-
