right onto Tiers
Road and into
W oodside.
Along Onkaparinga Road behind the Earth &
Fire gift shop is a
two story stone
building that is
the Avalon of
Woodside cafe.
After
ordering
coffee and cake
we settled down around a large
wooden table in the courtyard. Lynton
had been carrying a large mystery
box and after a few questions about
our ‘C’s he started giving out gifts of
‘303’ products. His business needed
to clear some products with old labels
so we were the recipients of some of
these wonderful car cleaning products.
The Torsion Bar Run
Or MGC Spring Run
And Francis Burnett wrote “‘Is spring
coming?’ he asked. ‘What’s it like?’” ...
I think we were all wondering that.
Well one Saturday afternoon in October it didn’t rain and the sun shone
but the wind was trying hard to blow it
all away. But MGC drivers are a committed bunch and five of us arrived at
Beaumont Road for our Torsion Bar
run.
I called the position of Register Coordinator open and was immediately renominated and re-elected.
This time it was a tomato and lettuce
sandwich with a little bit of mayonnaise. Jim McCrickard arrived with
his red roadster and Ron Telford
came in his red GT as I did. Lynton
Fuller came in his pale primrose roadster and Peter Carthy arrived for the
first time in his Green GT. Wonderful
to see you Peter. We had apologies
from Robin Gibbs and John Craven.
Ron Telford showed us a copy of a
couple of pages of a C Register newsletter, NZ I think, with a detailed drawing of an engine removal bracket. All
in inches! He also popped a page on
the table showing a needle roller
bearing that replaces the bronze
thrust washer in the top trunnion of
the king pin assembly. SC Parts
Group have then available for MGBs
and MGCs for £40. These bearings
reduc e friction and make the steering
lighter.
We headed for the hills, the wonderful
Adelaide Hills. Up Greenhill Road to
Uraidla and left onto Basket Range
Road, right onto Lobethal Road to
