street and we parked there and
walked to coffee.
The lineup for the Ferry was impressive, six MGA’s and two MGB’s, and
we were able to cross on the same
ferry, plus one motor bike. The river is
well up and running quite fast with
more water to come down later in the
month, quite a change from the last
time we were in Mannum when the
banks of the river were falling into the
water.
We headed for Swan Reach for a
BBQ lunch at John and Margaret
George’s property. Fortunately we
were all able to fit on one ferry at
Swan Reach, so we arrived all together and parked on the grass between the lagoon and an old outbuilding, now converted to a small house
with a very wide verandah. The views
across the water, the wildlife, cool
breeze from the south and great salads provided by Margaret, made
lunch enjoyable – we could have lingered all day (not that we would do
that Margaret).
After lunch, John kindly showed us his
collection of cars in one of the sheds
on the property. An impressive collection, but of course, his red MGA
MKII was the highlight for MG owners.
It was a ground up restoration, which
he purchased in Sydney last year.
Margaret then bought out the apple
pie and cream for dessert – local pie
from Balhannah with lots of apples.
Many thanks to our hosts for a wonderful venue for a lunch run
e had sixteen members to the
Movie Night. The “F” boys
were there, but all had seen ”Last Cab
to Darwin”, so they had a natter in the
verandah and left for their usual coffee before supper. Missed out on
cake and a couple of other delicacies
boys.
The movie was not what I expected,
but it was certainly watchable. Some
humour, some sadness and a bit of a
message about relationships. Too
heavy for Alan; the only highlight for
him was the race between the cab
and the train - cab won.
Thanks to everyone who supported
the Movie Nights throughout the year.
I think that it might be a good idea to
have fewer next year. I would like to
hear from anyone who has a movie
they think would be suitable and is
prepared to organize.

he weather was great today – up
to 25 degrees and sunny all the
way.
I had arranged for us to meet in the
carpark adjacent to the Mannum Ferry
with time for coffee and other requirements after a drive up from Adelaide.
Well, today was the day that the locals had a market in that carpark, so
quick thinking Ian Denny flagged us
down halfway down the busy main
