Twenty-two years ago , Shannon and husband , Jeff Johnson , opened a floral business . That first year , they decided to participate in a wedding vendor exhibit to showcase their new business to prospective brides and grooms . Shannon had a brilliant idea and told her husband , “ We need some columns for our booth display .” Jeff got to work and created a collection of beautiful , handcrafted columns for the show . Afterwards , they decided to keep the columns to use and rent out at weddings . Fast forward to 2022 and they now have two full warehouses of items to rent to couples to help make the wedding of their dreams a reality . The first year they were in business , they did 17 weddings . The next year , 72 weddings and now they do over 250 weddings and events each year .
Shannon ’ s Custom Florals specializes in decor . They are one of the few rental companies in the area who do ceiling draperies . Sheer drapes have become popular among brides , creating a soft ambiance . They also offer chandeliers , hanging greenery , lights , lanterns , backdrops and fresh flowers for weddings and special events . Shannon advises her couples , “ Secure your venue first , collect different ideas and looks that inspire you from Pinterest , magazines and the internet , then let ’ s sit down and get pricing on everything .” Pinterest looks are beautiful , but they do not list the price tag needed to create that effect . Out of the thousands of weddings that Shannon and Jeff have styled , one that stands out was a wedding years ago at Table Rock Lake where celebrities were in attendance .
