STUDENT STORY
Abdullah Al-Mansoob
Canadian
Founder & CEO, Genr8
Global Executive MBA Class of 2019
Why did you decide to do an EMBA?
I’d already established a successful business and
I was well connected as a member of the Board of
Directors of my alma mater. But I had big dreams for
my startup, Genr8. I needed the diversity and reach
of Hult’s network and the depth of practical
experience to give Genr8 the platform it needed
to make a global impact.
What is Genr8?
Genr8 is a peer-to-peer energy exchange
promoting clean energy neutrality in deregulated
electricity markets around the world. Genr8’s app
allows users to buy or transfer energy instantly and
to earn incentives for being green.
What’s the story behind it?
I’m Canadian but back in Yemen, where I’m from
originally, solar energy has been their means of
survival since they were cut off from gas and diesel.
At Hult London I connected with Aitor Aguirregabiria,
an expert in renewable energy, and other experts in
their fields who helped get Genr8 to where it is today.
How does the future look to you?
I see the future now as more and more people
understanding the various issues that we have and
coming together to solve them. I believe wars of the
future will be fought over water, rather than oil,
so that’s next on my list.
