Anoka

Anoka is a suburban city of
18,000 + residents and rests at the confluence of the Rum and Mississippi Rivers northwest of the Twin Cities; about 18 miles from Minneapolis and 25 miles from St. Paul. Anoka offers an abundance of attractions, events, and activities. It’ s historic downtown boasts an array of eclectic and unique shops, services, plus a variety of restaurants & bars, many of which participate in the Anoka Social District. All of this is surrounded by 30 beautiful city parks, trails, the Anoka Aquatic Center, Green Haven Golf Course, and historic and newer neighborhoods.
Continuing to promote economic growth through housing rehabilitation and development, commercial redevelopment, and historic preservation of the Central Business District, Anoka attracts new residents and businesses and draws visitors to enjoy all of its many amenities.
Being the county seat and home to more than 700 employers, the 13,000 + jobs in the city are concentrated in government, services, and manufacturing. The Anoka Enterprise Park was established in 1994 and spans 260 acres just off Highway 10.
Schools
Anoka is home to the Anoka-Hennepin School District, the largest school district in the state of Minnesota, serving over 38,000 students. The district offers a wide range of academic programs, extracurricular activities, and support services to ensure student success. In addition to the school district, Anoka is also home to Anoka Technical College, which provides students with hands-on training and education in more than 70 career / technical programs such as healthcare, automotive, and manufacturing. With a commitment to excellence in education, both the Anoka-Hennepin School District and Anoka Technical College are valuable assets to the community.
Notable Events in Anoka
The City of Anoka values community and offers a variety of events to bring people together. Annual events include Rockin’ on the Rum concerts, Anoka Riverfest & Craft Fair, Anoka Classic Car Show, Anoka July 3rd Fireworks, Anoka Food Truck Festival,
Farmers Market on the Rum, Christmas Tree Lighting, and Anoka Winterfest. Known as the“ Halloween Capital of the World” the month of October is filled with ghostly Halloweenthemed events, including the Big Parade of Little People, Light Up the Night parade, and the Grande Day parade.
