Director Spotlight: Stephen Keeler

Fridley Community Education
Stephen Keeler is no stranger to Fridley Public Schools. Keeler, a graduate of Fridley High School, began their career in 2008 working a summer job with the district’ s Tiger Club( childcare) while attending college. After graduation, they spent time working as a paraprofessional in the Fridley district.
In 2011, Keeler applied for a community education coordinator position. While in this role, they quickly realized how much they
loved Community Education. Over the next few years, Keeler went back to school and earned a Master’ s degree in Educational Leadership as well as a Director of Community Education license.
A little over six years ago they were selected to lead the Community Education department for Fridley Public Schools. Keeler has been fortunate to be able to spend their entire professional career serving the community in which they were raised.
When asked what is their favorite part about working in community education, Keeler responded,“ I love Community Education because we get to serve the community in so many different ways. I get to work with toddlers in our ECFE programs and then go have coffee with senior citizens in our senior program. We serve everyone from birth to senior citizens! Kathleen and the dedicated staff at the Columbia Heights Fridley Adult Education Center do such amazing work and they are leading the way in
online class offerings. We have amazing staff and amazing students and I am proud to be a part of Metro North ABE!”
