Anoka
The Anoka sites welcome a new member to the math collaborative team at Anoka- Ramsey Community College and Anoka Technical College . Jeff Den Otter is a former math teacher in the Lakeville school district . This is his first foray into ABE , but he feels it ’ s a natural transition of his skillset as he spent many years as a trainer with the Air Force National Guard . He sees similarities between shaping military members into successful young men and women and helping developmental college students become selfdriven independent learners . Welcome aboard , Jeff !
Meanwhile , as we continue to roll out the CoReq model encouraged by the Minnesota State system and the state legislature , the Dev Ed Collaborative is growing and includes the highest number of enrollees yet . Because the new model is larger in scope , we are also welcoming new college instructors to the fold . This brings fresh vision and energy to the project and encourages more student success .
Blaine
The Blaine Learning Lab is excited to announce two new partnerships that will offer great opportunities for our students .
Starting in October , we will collaborate with ECFE to provide parenting classes for our level 3 and 4 students . These classes will help provide parents and grandparents with the language , skills , and resources necessary to assist elementary-age children at home and in school .
Additionally , we are thrilled to share that we will be partnering with CareerForce to offer Digital Literacy classes , as well as Customer Resource Certification . This falls into the Human Services pathway , a career cluster that prepares people for jobs related to human needs and families . The new classes are scheduled to begin in November .
We are confident that these partnerships will greatly benefit our students , and we are looking forward to the upcoming programs .
Brooklyn Center
The Brooklyn Center Adult Education Center is grateful to have moved into its new location within the Brooklyn Center school district building this fall . Full-size classrooms in a dedicated hallway greet learners in this bright new space . Thank you to all of the district staff who have welcomed us into the space and helped us to get set up ! English classes are offered three mornings a week on Tues / Wed / Thurs and two evenings a week on Tues / Thurs . This site continues to offer dual options with an in-person class and an online class offered for each level .
