DDR: Why do you consider yourselves modern day pirates?
Nick: It's really a state of mind more than anything else. Kind of going with the flow in a way, or come what may I believe. Being pirates, nothing is going to be given to us. We are not raping and pillaging to get what we need though. (laughing) We work hard and believe in DIY "Do It Yourself". With that comes a lot of responsibility and a lot of hardships. When you are doing it yourself, not always do you know what you are doing, but you are fully believing in what you are doing along the way. It's like when you are stuck in the middle of the ocean, you have to believe, there is no turning back. There is not always a direction, but you have to believe that the course you set for yourself is true.
DDR: How would you describe you sound?
Nick: Hard Rock is the genre. Bruce, our singer, has a powerful voice and is classically trained. With him having important things to say, it's good to be clear, so I dont know if we would fit into a sub genre. We have been compared to a lot of bands but I have always felt that "There is a time to stop trying to be the next Metallica and start being Losing September. Our goal is to be ourselves. The hardest part about being in a band is to find your own image and your own sound and identity. Hopefully fans can catagorize us, but if they enjoy us that's what is really important to us.
Own the road or the road owns you. Much can be said about Losing September, these self-proclaimed pirates of the road, but one this is perfectly clear, they will not except no for an answer. Their hard working DIY attitude and unique stlye of rock will take this band blazing into the future. Check them live at the BFE Rock Club in Houston, Texas January 9th!
The Rise Of The Loser Creed:
I am a loser, but I am not a failure. I learn with every loss and become stronger by every obstacle. I cherish my defeats as well as my victories, for knowing what not to do, is just as important as knowing what to do. I will not look down or demean others, and will strive to be a positive and empowering force to help others learn from lessons they don’t yet understand.
