Cons also provide the opportunity to dress up and portray their favorite characters for all to see, for some, this preparation lasts all year long. The are many “DO NOT MISS” Cons throughout the United States and Houston CON proves to be one of them. From great guests, to panels, clinics, merchandise and costumes, HOUSTON CON provides it all. This years Houston Con was sensational as fans where treated to cast members from AXANAR the new Star Trek feature, as well as cast members from Teen Wolf and Power Rangers. One thing that stood out was Houston’s love of Sci-Fi and Fantasy as fans attended in costume from their favorite genre series. The community that Houston CON gathered this year for the event was incredible, our reporters bumped into a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica, Cobra Commander, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jack Sparrow, Storm Troopers, Darth Vader and a roaming Dalek from Dr Who. The level of dedication in costumes that some attendees chose to wear was amazing. Houston Con definitely brought out the best of the them. There were also vendors aplenty offering up goodies for every age and style. One could easily get lost in the sea of treasures ranging from comic books to games and from artisan jewelry to handmade hats and bags. One vendor in particular that garnered a lot of attention was the “Pocket Pets”. Many people from young to older fell in love with the sugar gliders and wanted to take one, or the entire lot, home with them. One of our reporters was one of them, however, she left with a gorgeous necklace and a few other “needed” trinkets instead. The folks at Houston Con put on a great show this year, the event was laid out well, no traffic jams with attendees as you maneuvered your way from vendor to vendor. If meeting actors was your thing, lines where long but moved smoothly and everyone had time to show their appreciation and spend a moment with their favorites. This reporter was no exception as I was able to meet a childhood idol of mine, Richard Hatch, or Captain Apollo from Battlestar Galactica. Houston Con made dreams come true this year for not just me, but many others attending the event. No matter what your interest at the event, folks left satisfied. Whether it was signed photos, or bags full of merchandise, Houston Con offered it all... The question is with such an incredible and successful Houston Con this year, what do they have planned for us next year? DeadDavesRadio Magazine will be waiting with anticipation.
