never content. Being content means you say "eh, its ok". When you become content, you usher in laziness, and you usher in "Oh, That will do" and before you know it you are literally half assing it! Look, I am a huge fan of KISS, look at Gene Simmons. At his level in the game, he still is not content. a lot can be learned from that guy. No matter what level of the game you are, never quit! You learn that at a young age with Disney movies, never give up! (Laughs) We will never be, "well we have come as far as we are going to
come" No way, no fucking way!
Mike: For you and Monoxide, do you see yourselves creating new material only when it's time for a new album, or is it a continuous process?
Jamie: I try to give myself time to turn off sometimes. It doesn't always work out that way! More so now than it was in the
past, because I am
working on so many different things. In the past we were always an album or two ahead of what the fans were listening to. Now, it's like "Darkness" is out and we may have two or three songs written for a new project, but at the same time we are piggy backing on several different projects. It's not like its mandatory to work on the TWIZTID thing , lets work on BLAZE for a little while, or whatever the case may be. It's not as intense as it once was, but it's still a never ending thing, but its good though! We are blessed with a course I guess! If we did turn it off, we would have nothing to write. It's a glass half full, lets call it a good thing!
Mike: If a fan were to bump into you on a normal day, nothing going on, just Jamie being Jamie, just a normal everyday guy, what would a fan catch you
doing?
Jamie: They would probably find me at some sort of toy show, or a comic con or a comic book shop getting my nerdy on. I love toys and comics, it's what I enjoy. They may find me in your local mall eating a pretzel. I am a simple kind of guy, I crave simple shit! (LAUGHS) Well actually, I am a strange kind of guy, we will have days off on the road and that will be my big thing. We are so cooped up on a tour bus for such a long period of time, I just want to go out and be in public. It doesn't have to be much, I mean, take me to a Cracker Barrel. Take me to a mall let me sit in the food court so I can feel like I am in an episode of Deep Space Nine, it's just a little slice of normalcy or what I was taught was normal. Then I can go back to the tour bus and do what I do, "OK, I'm good now take me back!" It's
nothing crazy. Maybe some-time Monoxide will twist our arm and we will end up at
some type of sports game, but it's just anything really to get out. We try and keep our private lives to our-selves, we are so open to our fans with everything that we do, and that's the only thing we really have left that is ours! I remem-ber one day, I think it was
Fathers Day, and
I am in the mall with my kid. and this guy walks up to me and is like "Oh my God, what are you doing here?" I was like "What do you think?' he was like "Can you take a picture?" I'm like "Ummm, sure" We are normal people at the end of the day. We just like to do what we do! I think that's just one of the things that make us relateable to people. They see that we are just normal people that got a chance , got a shot and actually made good with it!
