BACKGROUND
This report is a summary of the first sustained
programme of public research into the challenges
of validation for social practice artists (for discussion
of definitions see below and FAQs, Appendix
A, page 74). It is written for artists working in social
practice, cultural organisations who support and
engage these artists and for funders and commissioners
working with influential institutions such
as ACE and NHS, who might wish to know more
about validation and social practice artists’ experiences,
and to influence policy in accordance
with this.
