Finally , after another five hours on the minibus , we arrived at Snowdon at 3.40am in the dark . I was hoping to have four hours on Snowdon , it had taken us that long in the practice the month before – but here we were with three hours and 20 minutes to get up and back down .
That last one was the hardest , there we were in the pitch black with our headtorches on at four o ’ clock in the morning , but I just had Rob in my head , and I thought we ’ ve just got to get it done . I was on a mission . We must have flown up that mountain ! We reached the summit in an hour and a half and were back down at 6.30am completing the challenge with half an hour to spare !
How did it feel when you completed it ? I was incredibly emotional . It was a funny feeling really . I thought I ’ d be worse at the time , but I was probably just exhausted ! It was a week later when it really hit me . I felt a bit lost it was hard to explain , but I think after all the planning and the euphoria of completing the challenge for Rob , there was a bit of a comedown , and it took a little while for me to get back to normal . The walks with the lads have really helped me since we lost him .
I ’ m so proud of what we ’ ve achieved for Rob , and I hope the £ 20K raised will go some way to support people through Sean ’ s Place . A lot of us talked on the walk and shared our experiences . It ’ s a good escape from things getting outside I feel what we ’ ve done goes beyond the challenge as it has brought us all closer together .
