LIVE AT THE PLAZA
On Monday 25th April , the Mayor of Sefton Cllr Clare Carragher and Mayoress Miss Abigail Peel invited the following dignitaries to a day in Sefton which included a visit to Altcar , lunch at The Royal Hotel , ending at Live at the Plaza a monthly Variety show : Vice Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside Mr Robert Owen and Mrs Patti Owen , High Sheriff of Merseyside Ms Lesley Martin – Wright , Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Mary Rasmussen and Mrs Sue Gibbons , Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral Cllr George Davies and Mrs Catherine Davies , Mayor and Mayoress of West Lancs Cllr Gordon Johnson and Cllr Marilyn Westley , Mayor and Consort of St Helens Cllr Sue Murphy and Mr Mike Murphy , Mayor and Mayoress of Halton , Cllr Christopher Rowe and Mrs Joanne Rowe , Mayor and Mayoress of Knowsley Cllr Frank Walsh and Miss Joanne Schumacher .
Live at the Plaza began in 2017 following an idea by Julie Lawson BEM . Her parents died of Alzheimer ’ s and Dementia seven weeks apart in 2014 . She wanted to give people with Alzheimer ’ s , Dementia , Autism , and those who are socially isolated , something to look forward to and a reason to go out of an afternoon by providing them with the best live entertainment and a chance to get out of their home or care home for just a few hours . The monthly variety show is also a fabulous way to showcase some of Liverpool ’ s finest artists and comedians . It is a full 2-hour show , and her army of volunteers serve cake at the interval . Live at the Plaza is heavily subsided by Julie ’ s fundraising and funding applications which help to keep the prices low and affordable for people on low incomes .
