RECRUIT RIGHT ’ S NEW LIVERPOOL VENTURE WILL HELP BOOST ECONOMY
TV FAME FOR LOCAL COMPANY
Recruit Right is to open a new Liverpool city centre base as expansion of its core areas of operation contribute to the rebuilding of the region ’ s economy .
The Birkenhead-headquartered business , already a market leader in the industrial , commercial and driving recruitment sectors across Merseyside and the North West , will add the Baltic Triangle site to its portfolio of offices in Manchester and Blackburn . A surge in online shopping and food manufacturing over the past year , along with the growth of regional transport and logistics operations , has given the company a huge boost and is steering its 2021 plans for expansion .
Director Helen Cornah explained : “ Our new Liverpool base will put us at the centre of Liverpool City Region ’ s drive to increase the local economy as it emerges from the pandemic . Over the past year , shopping habits have changed dramatically and signs are that these trends will continue , calling for an increased supply of labour in our key areas of business . Recruiting for call centre work has had a massive impact on our operation as has an upward turn for manufacturing and food-based industries and their supply chains . As a result , many job opportunities have opened up in sales and finance , food production and packing and a major new contract for us with a waste management organisation sees us filling vacancies for drivers , loaders and recycling operatives . Our successful partnerships with food industries and waste management puts us at the heart of recession-proof enterprises such as these and secures our position as a market leader in the industrial , commercial and driving recruitment sectors throughout Merseyside and the North West .”
Investing in the new Liverpool base means Recruit Right will now be closer to many of its existing clients and candidates . Helen said : “ It ’ s a method of operation that ’ s been key to the expansion of our existing operations . For instance , in Birkenhead our proximity to a major call centre client has allowed us to successfully develop our on-site services for them while in Manchester our Driving Division , supplying drivers for some of the biggest commercial and industrial concerns , continues to deliver the goods to keep the North of England moving . All this expertise will now be focused on bringing the same high-level service to our Liverpool City Region hirers and job seekers .”
Heading up the Liverpool centre will be newly-appointed recruitment consultant Danielle Parkinson and branch manager Simon Ashley- Makin .
It ’ s November 2012 and two St Helens lads , brothers in law as it happens , decided to change their lives and venture into the world of self-employment . Working out of a garage , and combining their creativeness and practicality , Hughie and Steve discovered their previously unknown talent for creating interesting , custom built ornaments and furniture from reclaimed materials . Retro Chimps was born .
Fast forward to 2021 and Retro Chimps fame is spreading nationally following its appearance on the Channel 4 documentary programme , Carry on Glamping . The show follows the dream of St Helens TV personality Johnny Vegas , to create a unique glamping site . The accommodation at Johnny ’ s site consists of vehicles rescued from the scrap yard , and renovated to a high standard .
It ’ s been a long journey though for Retro Chimps and Directors Hughie Brennan and Steve Kay . The intervening years have been tough . Hughie says : “ There ’ s been hard times when we didn ’ t have enough work and money was tight , most people would ’ ve jacked it in . But we ’ ve always had faith in the business and we were determined to make it work .”
Retro Chimps now operates from its own unit on Chalon Way Industrial estate . “ The business started to really take off in 2015 ” says Steve , “ We fitted out a local café , and made a distinctive logo and sign . This led to a barbershop fit out , and it ’ s just grown from there really .”
Numerous other local businesses have benefited from the Retro Chimps magic . Momos café , Sobrosos Mexican restaurant , The Bard pub in Prescot , and The Wine Club in Rainhill . Hughie commented : “ It ’ s not just local though , we ’ ve fitted out pubs in Iron Bridge and Shrewsbury .”
“ The real break came when Johnny Vegas turned up at the unit with a pair of filing cabinets , and asked us to create bedside cabinets out of them ” says Steve .
" When he returned to pick them up , he was made up with them , and started talking about a documentary he was filming .” Hughie interjected , “ imagine our surprise when 5 months later we got a phone call asking us if we ’ d like to be part of the programme , and could we come up and film with Johnny .” merseylife . com 83
