At Love Lane Brewery they blend together the old with the new . How could they not ? Their home was once part of Liverpool ’ s historic docks , now named one of the coolest districts in the UK ( The Times , 2017 ). They ’ ve created a brewing company that is passionate about creating beers and food for a new generation of beer enthusiasts .
This month we had a young foodie , Max , join us on work placement ( age 15 ) to taste and shoot the food ( surely the best placement ever ?)
Starters
After a chat with the hugely knowledgeable staff about how best to fully experience today , we decided to try four different signature starters , mains and desserts between us ...
Salt and pepper squid and white bait - Served with lemon aioli , this dish explodes umami . A beer snack in its own right .
Pulled Pork nachos - Served with a homemade guacamole and salsa , this starter is the perfect balance between savoury and sweet , with the crunch of the nachos and the sweet bbq glaze of the pork .
Truffle mac ' n ' cheese croquettes - These bites will make you fall in love with the dish whether your a M ' n ' C fan or not . Served with it ' s very own sauce and coated in a breaded batter , the croquettes crunch and then melt inside your mouth .
A large bucket of wings - Each served with its own signature sauce or seasoning . Your choice of : IPA BBQ glazed ( made with Love New England IPA ), Salt ' n ' Pepper , Sriracha hot sauce . These are KILLER beer food .
Mains
Hot Chicken and Waffles - Homemade crispy chicken strips , marinated in a siracha sauce , laying on two sweet Belgium waffles and topped with sliced pickles . The balance between sweet and spicy is perfectly nailed .
Steak Burger - Two grilled beef patties , laid on a bed of lettuce , crispy bacon and a toasted pretzel bun . This burger has to be one of the best we ' ve tasted , ( as you can see from the photo it ' s huge ) especially when drizzled in its own ' in house ' ( our trainee was obsessed with the secret to create this ' magic sauce ', some attempted bribery went down but the Chef was Colonel Sanders level of super secrecy ) served with a portion of well seasoned fries .
Pulled Pork and Cheese Jumbo Frankfurter - A jumbo sausage served on a brioche bun , coated in the previously mentioned ' in house ' liquid melted cheese , pulled pork and smashed up nachos . If you like your dogs pretty HOT , try this colossal beast .
Flammkuchen - found in most German Bier Halls and Gardens , these are Germany ' s answer to pizza , a great summer bite with a quality pint . They are currently serving : Sommer zucchini - courgette , sun-blushed tomatoes , black olives and feta cheese ( v ) or Klassic Spec and Zwiebein - caramalised onions and bacon .
Serious Sunday Roast Dinner - Served with chicken or roast beef , this unbelievable roast is served from midday until 18:30pm or until they run out . Better book quick as this dish is staggeringly good .
Love Lane ' s team are carefully picked and super tight - they do not settle for anything less . It ' s a great business - brilliant idea - encapsulating everything you love . Perfect !
Beers are second to none in the Liverpool . Ultimate Beer Hall food ! Great super knowledgeable staff . What more do you want ?
