STRICTLY BALLROOM
The Adelphi was packed to the rafters on Saturday 12th November as 400 people gathered to support this year ’ s Strictly Ballroom event for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation .
Ten couples took to the floor and dazzled the audience with the quickest of quicksteps , a fabulous foxtrot and cheeky cha cha cha - all whilst raising money for the Liverpoolbased charity . Coffee shop owner , Anthony Grice , alongside partner Sarah Tomkins , lifted the glitterball trophy , with a terrific tango to Ed Sheeran ’ s Shivers .
Paula Chadwick is the chief executive of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation . She said , “ It was yet another A-MA- ZING Strictly Ballroom fundraiser , with all couples dancing their sparkly socks off ! Thanks to their incredible dedication and the wonderful support on the night , this year ’ s event raised a staggering £ 36,000 . In these very tough times , this money means we can continue our vital work , funding life saving research and providing practical , emotional and financial support to all those affected by lung cancer .”
Next year , the charity will hold two Strictly Ballroom events in Liverpool and Manchester . If you are interested in being part of the glitz and glamour , please email jackie . tebbs @ roycastle . org .
