THE SEAFOOD KITCHEN , CROSBY by Si Hall & Justin Hartley

Where do we start with this hidden Gem in the heart of Crosby ! The Seafood Kitchen is a small , local and independent restaurant offering the freshest seafood possible .
Shetland mussels delivered daily , which are to die for by the way but we ' ll move on to that later . Native lobsters delivered live , and oysters from Essex are just a few examples of what to expect from Head Chef , Ashleigh , and her team . Oh and not forgetting seabass caught fresh from the Mersey , along with the majority of fish on their regularly changing specials , including mullet , stone salmon , plaice and sole .
Everything here is prepared fresh on site , with love and passion ! So here goes ...
After being greeted by Restaurant Manager Vicky and a lovely , freezing cold , pint of Poretti we were given the run down about the menu and the day ' s specials .
Starters :
Ashleigh and Vicky are both hugely knowledgeable and passionate about their food so we decided to opt for a couple of different starters :
Carlingford Oysters with lemon , tabasco and shallot vinaigrette - quite literally an explosion on our taste buds which went down tremendously with a cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc .
Pan Fried Scottish Scallops with Salsa Verde - these were really delicate , falling apart in the mouth and complimented so nicely with the salsa verde .
Mains :
Pan Fried Sea Bass with asparagus , chantennay carrots , sautéed new potatoes and finished with Formby Watercress butter - a light fish bursting with flavour and complimented so well with the locally grown vegetables .
Locally caught Grey Mullet with asparagus , samphire , leeks and runner beans - the flavours are layered throughout this dish and cut through to give a real taste sensation !
Home made Prawn and Lobster Ravioli with samphire , lobster bisque and parsley - a delicate dish with subtle flavours . The samphire and parsley are a perfect match with the lobster .
Desserts :
Rhubarb Cheesecake - just like Nan used to make - bursting with home grown Rhubarb !!
Ooozy Chocolate Fondant with vanilla ice cream - Impossible to describe this incredible dessert ... colossal !
All of the above were washed down well with Mud House , New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc .
The Seafood Kitchen is intimate and rustic , offering some of the best , locally sourced produce around .
Vicky , Ashley and the rest of the team have such passion and flare it really shone through to give us a warm , enjoyable experience . They can even create bespoke dishes and order in specific wines or champagnes ensuring each guest has a faultless experience . Well done !

Moules Marinere with Crusty Bread - These Mussels are an absolute must and served in a beautiful white wine sauce - If you want immense flavours this is the dish for you .
