Merri Health acknowledges January 26 is not inclusive and we continue our advocacy to change the date to a day that is respectful for everyone .
For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities January 26 is not a celebration , but a day of mourning that significantly impacts their health .
On January 26 , we were delighted to join the Share the Spirit festival and yarn about our new First Nations carer services , thoughtfully created by and for mob .
First Nations carers and visitors engaged in a WUDTJAMEEN Basket Weaving workshop and painted our 10-meter canvas which will be on display at one of our sites !
Our Carer Gateway team is working with Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations towards our shared goal of ‘ Aboriginal Health ’ by increasing input from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities .
