What ’ s new with you ? My husband and I welcomed our first child in September 2021 . We are enjoying our time with her while always looking for new ways to serve our community !
How have you continued your spirit of “ giving back ” and why is it important to you ? In recent years , it has been more important than ever to recognize and help those in need . It is a responsibility we all have — to give graciously of what is ours . We specifically hope to model this for our daughter as well .
Words of advice to someone just starting out in the work field : Work hard to stay the course , be diligent and committed to your responsibilities , find a mentor and look to their wise example , and always remain humble and kind . In time , be a mentor to those who are entering the field just like you once were .

What ’ s new with you ? Shortly after being recognized in 2016 , our family felt the Lord calling us to adopt a child in India . It made absolutely no sense to most people and even us at times , plus the process took over three years and cost a lot of money . But , last October , we brought home the most beautiful little girl from Jamnager , India , named Elly Ruth . She is 6 years-old and will be in kindergarten at Clarkdale Elementary , and has fit into our family like a glove . How have you continued your spirit of “ giving back ” and why is it important to you ? In recent years , it has been more important than ever to recognize and help those in need . It is a responsibility we all have — to give graciously of what is ours . We specifically hope to model this for our daughter as well .
How have you continued your spirit of “ giving back ” and why is it important to you ? I have been on the Greater Meridian Fellowship of Christian Athletes ( FCA ) Board of Directors for almost 15 years , and have chaired the annual Breakfast of Champions ( BOC ) event for the past five . I love FCA and this event because I have seen with my own eyes how God has used the influence of athletes and coaches to mold lives in a positive way . The BOC event recognizes area athletes who may not be the star player on the team , but lives out the values of FCA like integrity , serving , teamwork and excellence . I came to know Christ at an FCA camp in July 1993 , and my life was changed . Since then , my three older children ( Mary Ashley , Cal , and Cade ) have all began serving in the organization as huddle leaders . Additionally , I am beginning my 10th year facilitating the “ Seven Habits ” with the Leadership Lauderdale Youth and Adult program through the EMBDC .
Words of advice to someone just starting out in the work field : Learn and live out Covey ’ s Habit Three that says , “ Put First things , first ”. Prioritize things that are important not urgent . When you manage life , time takes care of itself .
