Who do you look to for inspiration or mentorship ?: Inspiration is pretty easy to find . I look at my parents and am easily inspired by the sacrifices they made for me . My goal is to take advantage of the opportunities they provided and make wise choices that enhance the quality of life for my family . My wife and kids are my “ why .” They truly are why I get up each and every day and continuously push myself to be the best husband , father , employee or friend I can be . Mentorship is a little tougher to single out . I am mentored , mostly without them even realizing it ; I believe we can learn something from anyone . I am typically a sponge when talking with anyone and always try to take something useful and positive away from the conversation .
Where did your spirit of altruism develop and why is it important to give back ?: I think my spirit of altruism was developed at an early age . Times seemed so different back then . The ‘ 80s and ‘ 90s felt like the whole community was family . I was blessed to have a lot of caring individuals in my community who greatly influenced my life .
What is your community ’ s greatest asset ? I believe our community ’ s greatest asset are its people . Although we have recently had some bad apples , I truly believe the people as a whole are our greatest asset . We are a community that works hard and loves hard .
What ’ s your favorite saying and why ? My favorite saying is “ Tough Love .” I ’ m a huge fan of perseverance and overcoming obstacles . I think challenges and accountability help grow us as individuals . My personal opinion is our children need to learn how to deal with failure and experience a little more “ Tough Love ”. Life is not always easy and fair and the sooner they realize this the better they will be . So , “ Tough Love ” is my favorite right now !
