Who do you look to for inspiration or mentorship ? My mentor is Meridian native Kevie Dixon . Mr . Dixon keeps me grounded as young professional . He provides me with advice and networking opportunities to ensure my continued growth as a wife , mother , and business owner .
Where did your spirit of altruism develop and why is it important to give back ? My grandmother the late Lizzie Kennedy had a heart for all people . As a child , I watched her feed individuals in the neighborhood who were hungry . She never turned anyone away .
What is your community ’ s greatest asset ? Our community ’ s greatest asset are the individuals who are pouring back into their community through leadership , entrepreneurship , and mentorship . These individuals are the “ silent partners ” of our community . Whether behind the scenes or in the public eye , they are effective in their own rite . They are attempting to shift the culture of our community one day at a time .
What ’ s your favorite saying and why ? “ To whom much is given , much is required .” Luke 12:48 . I believe that God will give us our hearts desires just as his word says . Walking in line with your faith and prayers necessitates your commitment to God and his promises . When God gives , what can he expect from you in return ? Your devotion activates your abundance .
Education : Bachelor ’ s degree in Childcare & Family Education , Jackson State University . I will receive my master ’ s degree in Teaching December 2023 .
Memberships , activities : Member of the Order of Eastern Star ( Stars of Virtue # 1069 ; serves as an after-school tutor at The Carter Academy ; Parents Teachers Organization Vice-President ; Sponsor of Magnolia Youth Athletic Association ( MYAA ; and Assistant Youth Director at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church . Family : Spouse : Jaquinton Horner ; Children : Amaria , 9 , and Mason , 6 .
