Who do you look to for inspiration or mentorship ? We have strived to make giving back the core of our business . We have been fortunate enough to meet and learn from other Kona Ice franchisees across the US . The work they have done in their communities inspires me to do the same in our area . I am also thankful to work for a great group of doctors at Mississippi Eye Care . Their ability to work together to grow from two independent locations into a consolidated practice with nine locations is truly inspiring .
Where did your spirit of altruism develop and why is it important to give back ? My parents taught me that most people are not looking for a hand-out , but instead they are looking for a hand-up . It can be as simple as an encouraging word to a struggling friend or helping someone get back on their feet after a disaster . Everyone at some point in their lives will need a hand-up , so it ’ s important to stay humble and help how you can , when you can .
What is your community ’ s greatest asset ? Our greatest assets are the many people in our community that care . Our community is full of people that care about one another and work to make it a better place to live .
What ’ s your favorite saying and why ? There is a quote from Zig Ziglar that has always stuck with me : “ You Can Have Everything In Life You Want , If You Will Just Help Enough Other People Get What They Want .” This always reminds me to keep a service mindset in everything that I do .
